 * Program registration is required for all programs, unless otherwise indicated. Due to the popularity of programs, families need to register in advance online, by phone (248.684.0845) or in person. The first week of registration is reserved for Milford residents. Non-residents may inquire on available space after the first week of registration. Programs may be cancelled if fewer than 5 kids register for the program.

Wixom Marathon Raises Funds for Slain West Bloomfield Police Officer (9/20-21)

What: Wixom Marathon Fundraiser for Slain West Bloomfield Police Officer

Where: Wixom Marathon (9330 Wixom Road, just north of the I-96 Wixom Road exit, across from the Wixom Auto Plant)
Cost: Cost of gas
Who: Anyone who needs Gas

A local gas station, Wixom Marathon, will be holding Fundraiser for slain West Bloomfield Police Officer this Thursday, September 20th & Friday, September 21st during normal gas station hours. The Wixom Marathon will donate 5 cents of every gallon purchased by Marathon customers to the Officer O'Rourke Family Trust, which will go directly to his family. The fundraiser will take place Thursday morning through Friday night.

Office O'Rourke was fatally shot last week after responding to a call that shots were fired out of a West Bloomfield Township house.  He was married with four children.

There will also be free coffee, donuts and hot dogs available to all customers during the two-day event.

Commerce Twp Taste of the Lakes Fundraiser (9/27)

Lakes Area Youth Assistance (LAYA) will host its annual Taste of the Lakes fundraiser on Thursday, September 27th from 5-8pm at the Edgewood Country Club in Commerce Township.  During the event, attendees can enjoy great food prepared by local restaurants.  There will also be door prizes and there will be a silent auction.  Tickets can be purchased in advance for $20 at the LAYA office (248-956-5070), at the Commerce Township offices (248-624-0110) or at Wixom Parks and Recreation (248-624-2850) or at the door for $25.

LAYA is set up by the Walled Lake Consolidated School District and is sponsored by the Oakland County Probate Court/Circuit Court-Family Division, as well as Walled Lake, Commerce, Wolverine Lake and Wixom.  This non-profit organization offers many programs and counseling services for youth and their families who live within the Walled Lake school district.  Some programs offered include sending youths to summer camp, skill-building scholarships, youth/adult mentors PLUS program, a conflict resolution and bullying prevention program, and a scholarship to get kids involved in extracurricular activities.

Come on out to enjoy some great food and support a GREAT cause!

Novi Library: Yoga & Kids Nutrition Class (9/24)

The Novi Public Library, through Providence Hospital, is hosting a Yoga & Kids Nutrition Class on Monday, September 24th.  You do not need to be a Novi resident to attend.  The class begins with a 30 minute yoga session by a certified instructor - please wear comfortable clothing.   Free yoga mats to the first 80 to sign up! A light supper will be provided as a bonus! Emily Schwartz, MS, RD, CNSC will then discuss kids and nutrition followed by plenty of time for Q&A. Novi Metro Area Worldwide Day of Play (9/29)

What: Metro Area Worldwide Day of Play

Where: West Oaks Shopping Center- Novi Road between I-96 and Twelve Mile Road
Cost: Free

This event was launched by Nickelodeon to encourage young people to get active, and stay healthy. On this day thousands of local schools, communities, organizations, and individuals throughout 50 states and 13 countries host activities to support youth staying active. The event will kick-off with hundreds of kids participating in a 5k youth walk to benefit Gleaners Community Food Bank at 9:15am (students are asked to bring $5 or 5 canned goods). The line-up for the day includes marching bands, dance groups, cheer teams, martial arts groups, kids cardio participation, exercise/dance fun, healthy cooking demonstrations, a youth fashion show, youth speakers, youth advocates, anti-bullying campaigns, and goal setting motivators.

28th Annual Milford Car Show (9/16)
